I've officially been sharing the details behind my illustration design in this blog for just over a month now. As an editorial illustrator and small business brand designer, I'm constantly sketching, not just because I need to keep my skills sharp but also because I'm happiest when I'm drawing. So I thought to celebrate I might share some of the sketches form this month I haven't had a chance to share with anyone yet!

Editorial illustration promoting the hospitality industry by Kamillla Illustration completed at Coffee Daze.

I do a lot of my sketching form observation in cafes and coffee shops. It's a great way to keep in touch with my local community, practice drawing people and relax at the end of the week all at the same time. The sketch above is from Coffee Daze which is the coffee shop closest to me.

I've been making an effort to practice with pen this month, my favored medium is typically colored pencil. Some of these are are form Coffee Daze, as well as Larchers, Aroma Coffee House, the Reverie, Pennate Coffee, and Watermark Books and Cafe.

I hope you've enjoyed my work! See you again with some small business branding advice next week.

And if you're wondering how sketches like this might benefit your small business or looking for similar illustrations for your publication, then let's talk!

This was such a refreshing read! I love how cafe sketches capture everyday moments with so much personality. It reminded me of how Disney character illustrations also bring simple expressions to life in such a magical way. Both styles show how powerful illustration can be in telling stories without words.

I’ve found that TypeType fonts are especially useful when working on branding projects. A good pro fonts can completely change how a logo or slogan looks, and here you can find something for every type of brand. Whether it’s modern, minimal, or bold and expressive, the variety is incredible. I’ve used some of their fonts in mockups for clients, and the results always feel professional and polished.
